matrix-direct recycle
Company Background...

Matrix Direct Recycle was formed in 2003 as one of the first companies in the UK to specifically focus on WEEE recycling.

After the successful launch of a franchised collection network across the UK and contracts for the collection and recycling of electrical waste from private individuals, businesses, insurance companies and councils.

The company was purchased in March 2006 by Lampcare (UK) Recycling resulting in a major investment in plant and machinery at its 5.5 acre site with over 100,000 square feet of warehousing in Huddersfield.

Since the investment the company has sourced, installed and commissioned a bespoke WEEE recycling plant capable of recycling 20 tons of electrical waste per hour and over 800 assembled televisions/computer monitors per hour.

The site also boasts an 80 million per annum lamp recycling plant capable of processing all gas discharge lamps as well as specialist lamps such as shatterproof, HID and automotive lamps. With full distillation on site for the recovery of mercury from the lamps.

Additional investment in July 2007 was made for a cable cord set recycling equipment for separation of cord sets from returned electrical waste.

The company is the only one in the UK to have an Environment Agency PPC license for a WEEE plant.

We also have two other sites in Glasgow and Harlow for recycling of gas discharge lamps, these sites operate under SEPA and Environment Agency PPC licences and have full mercury distillation on site.
